For the past several years, MERCY has set aside one of our monthly programs, to allow several couples to come in and share “How Their Marriages Were Saved/Enhanced.”
This Saturday was such a time, and as always, it was a powerful experience. I need to remember to bring tissues next time.
Our first couple shared they didn’t feel like they really had a marriage for the first 15 years; the last 15, however, have been good. The husband said
their marriage was reborn. In the beginning they let their differences tear them apart. She was hurt and depressed and he was angry and resentful. The wife of another couple explained she let her wants and expectations get in the way. And our third couple persevered through many trials and were not willing to give up.
They each sought different helps along the way, but the common thread was without the Lord their marriages couldn’t and wouldn’t have healed – or as the one man explained – been reborn!
